One such theory was that the game was invented in China and was brought to Europe by Dominican monks who in those days were trading with the Chinese. The second theory states that a man named Blaise Pascal, a 17th Century French mathematician, invented the game. After the basic elements of the game were devised by the French math scholar Pascal, there were no further substantive changes in the rules until some two hundred years later when the Blanc Brothers added a zero to Pascal’s wheel.
